300 Sequel/Prequel a Possibility?

The folks over at Collider recently attended the 35th Annual Saturn Awards and had an opportunity to talk with 300 Producers Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann. The trio first revealed a new project called War of Gods, which they say is another Greek film like 300. Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) has been hired to direct and it will start filming in the first quarter of next year.

That’s a pretty good scoop, and seems like a nice fit for Singh’s unique visual style, but what they said next is even bigger. I’ll let Frosty from Collider take it from here.

The other bit of news is on “300.” They announced they’re working on a new Blu-ray edition of the film and they dropped a bomb…they’re trying to make a sequel/prequel to the film.

At first I didn’t believe them, but later in the night I spoke to Zack Snyder again (interview will be posted tomorrow) and he confirmed what they said. He said Frank Miller is working on a new story of some kind and if they all really like it they’ll make it! Crazy news….I know!

We’ve heard rumblings of a follow up to 300 before, and I’m sure ever since the huge success of the first flick producers have been trying to get a sequel off the ground. If it has to happen at all it’s at least good to see Frank Miller is involved.

What do you guys think? Thumbs up or down on a 300 sequel/prequel?

What Others Have to Say:

  1. War of Gods??? be nice if it was GOD of WAR….

  2. Gerard Butler made 300 what it was and since his character was killed off in the original, how could a sequel have him as the character that put the film on the map? I know I would not care to see a sequel unless new footage of Gerard as Leonidias was presented in a grand way, so I’m curious. If they could pull off something where Butler is in the film in a big way, then, yes, I think they would have as big of a success as the original. If he isn’t involved, I don’t believe any of his fans would be interested in seeing the success he created be infringed upon.
