500 Days for Deschanel and Gordon-Levitt

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have signed on to star in the new romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer, being directed by Mark Webb for Fox Searchlight, reports Variety. Webb, a veteran music-video director, makes his feature film debut with the project.

The film centers on a man (Gordon-Levitt) who falls hopelessly in love with a woman (Deschanel) who doesn’t believe in love. Clark Gregg, Minka Kelly, Matthew Gray Gubler and Rachel Boston round out the cast.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber penned the screenplay. The duo also recently wrote The Pink Panther 2. Mark Waters, Jessica Tuchinsky, Steven Wolfe and Mason Novick are producing.

Zooey Deschanel can be seen later this summer in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening, while Joesph Gordon-Levitt is currently filming the big screen version of G.I Joe.
