Another Director Escapes New York

ratnerleavesny.jpgAfter the huge success of 300, Gerald Butler signed up for a number of projects, one of them being a remake of John Carpenter’s Escape from New York. Rumors were swirling for a long time that Len Wiseman, one of the people responsible for killing John McClane, was attached to direct, but then out of nowhere Brett Ratner signed on to the project. When that happened I was actually wishing those Len Wiseman rumors would come true.

Thankfully, Ratner has left the project, perhaps after reading all the bashing on the internets and afraid that angry fanboys were gearing up to break down his door and kidnap him. Whatever the reason, Ratner was accepting an achievement in cinema award at the Savannah Film Festival and stated that the movie would be happening, just not with him.

A sigh of relief travels across the movie world.
