Ron Perlman has added yet another role to his already long filmography. The actor has signed on to play the villain in the upcoming hybrid martial arts movie Bunraku, says The Hollywood Reporter. Josh Hartnett, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, Kevin McKidd and Jordi Molla also star in the film, which is being directed by Guy Moshe, who also wrote the screenplay.

The film is set in a hyper stylized universe a la Sin City and draws from a mixed bag of genres, including puppets, origami, comic books, video games and German expressionism. It follows a drifter (Hartnett) who teams with a samurai (Gackt) to take on an Eastern European gang lord, played by Perlman.

Perlman recently signed on to the new independent film The Job, and of course can be seen later this summer in Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Look for Bunraku in 2009.
