Bill Hicks Biopic in the Works?

Russell Crowe would have been filming Ridley Scott’s Nottingham right about now, but unfortunately that film has been delayed, so what’s the actor up to instead? He recently spoke with the Sydney Morning Herald where he revealed that he’s working on a biopic on comedian Bill Hicks.
“I have another project based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks, which is going from treatment to draft stage with Kiwi writer Mark Staufer.”
It is understood he is considering playing the main role of Hicks — a controversial and brilliant American comedian who battled drug and alcohol abuse before dying from cancer at 32.
Crowe also revealed that Nottingham will probably begin filming in March. It seems Ridley Scott wanted the leaves on the trees in England’s Sherwood Forest to be the right color.

Hmm. He seems like a good choice for the role.

Crowe is the perfect role for this biopic. I mean, just take a look at the awesomeness of his previous biopics (The Insider, A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man).

Well, the insider wasn’t all that hot, but yeah I agree.

Well, The Insider did get, what, 7-8 Oscar nominations and Russell was one of them. All-in-all, Crowe is a brilliant actor, especially when it comes to serious real-life roles.
