Danny Glover to Star in Master Harold

Danny Glover has just signed on to star in the big screen version of Athol Fugard’s Master Harold…and the Boys, reports Variety. Glover previously starred in the play.
Lonny Price, who directed Glover in the recent Broadway revival and played opposite him in the stage production 20 years ago, will direct. The title role will be played by Thomas Sangster, the Love Actually star who has also landed the title role in the upcoming Steven Spielberg/Peter Jackson production Tintin.
In the film, Harold, a young white man, learns that his alcoholic, handicapped father is returning home, and his frustration turns into racist viciousness against the two black men who work for the family.
London-based Focus Films put the film together, with Focus’ David Pupkewitz and Malcolm Kohll producing. It begins production on July 10 in Durban, South Africa.
