Details on The X-Files 2 Plot

xfiles2plot.jpgUPDATE: It seems that the below article has nothing to do with the new X-Files movie. The plot outline is from a dummy script. The secret still remains.

It’s hard to believe that a sequel to the X-Files movie is actually happening. Not because people don’t want it or that the first one didn’t make enough cash, but just because it’s been stuck in development hell for the last decade. It just goes to show that some movies can actually make it out of that dark place, where a lot of cool movies go to die.

Moviehole has scored some details on what the sequel will be about. They’re spoiler filled so be warned. The scary thing here is the lack of Mulder and Scully.

Set in a non-descript town, “XF2” opens with an investigation into an alleged Frankenstein-type named Dr. Donarra. According to a former patient, the man’s a nutter – he keeps foetuses in a jar, and toys with the organs of extra terrestrials. But according to the doc, he’s merely “working hard to prevent children with non-survivable birth defects”.
Of course, that’s not exactly true – as evidenced by a scene that follows where the mysterious doc requests a private conversation with his secretary, Vanessa. There’s something strange about this chick though – she refers to herself in the third person , as if she’s merely taken over Vanessa’s body and is supposed to be taking her “medicine” to cloak whatever Donarra’s wants cloaked.

The first big moment of the film occurs in a travel agency where a crazed man – someone convinced of alien life – is holding some folks hostage. Agents Winlock, Darby and Plummer (the new Mulder, by the sounds of it) are in charge of the hostage situation – and promise the man safe passage for him and doctor Schwartz. The kidnapper wants to take the doctor to an alien abduction site.

Other characters in the film include female agent Samantha Pitney, and Robert Coe – sounds like he’s one of the main’s – a police psychic who we’re introduced to early on in the film when he volunteers to search for a missing girl (no doubt another alien abductee). Coe’s a mysterious one too… seems he’s under investigation for murdering his own son. I’m thinking Lance Henriksen might be in the mix to play this character (and not Frank Black, the character he played on the series) – it seems to fit him like a coaxial chord in a TV.

Now I don’t know when Mulder and Scully enter the picture, but it sounds like it’s not in the first half hour of the movie.

What Others Have to Say:

  1. Hi just to let you know this article originally from moviehole is actually false. They have since retracted the article. They were basing the ’spoiler’ on the auditioning ’sides’ that the X-Files producers sent out to jobbing actors. However these sides were taken word for word from old X-Files scripts ‘Essence, Closure and Duane Barry.’ The producers just changed the names of the old characters to reflect the new names. So the article is completely untrue. Its not nor was it ever about aliens.
