Favreau Wants to Direct The Avengers?
Fear not comic book lovers, Warner Bros. might be butchering the Justice League movie as we speak, but there’s always The Avengers to cure your ensemble-superhero craving. Although, you’ll have to wait a bit before we get to see the Marvel heroes battling it out on screen – and that’s a good thing. Iron Man director, Jon Favreau recently spoke to MTV where he talked about Marvel’s plans for The Avengers and possibly directing it himself.
“[But] in the case of Marvel they’re pretty clear on wanting to do it with the actors who’ve established the roles or to not do it at all. That’s what they’ve said to me,” he continued. “I think it’s a good idea if you use the characters established in the other franchises that then come together for an event. I don’t think they would do it like they’re doing ‘Justice League’ where it’s a whole different set of actors and a whole different take on the world.”
We still have to wait to see if Favreau has what it takes with Iron Man, coming out this summer, and judging by the trailer he does. Also, the other characters that make up The Avengers like Captain American, Ant Man and Thor all still need movies of their own. Indeed an Avengers movie isn’t around the corner yet, but it looks like it’ll be well worth the wait.
