Hawaii Five-O Returning to CBS

CBS and Criminal Minds executive producer and showrunner Ed Bernero are bringing back the popular crime drama Hawaii Five-O, which is being described as Hawaii Five-O’ 2.0., says The Hollywood Reporter.
The remake of the hit series, which was created by Leonard Freeman and aired on CBS from 1968-80, is one of three projects Bernero has in the works. The other two are Washington Field, which is being done in cooperation with the FBI, and a fugitive apprehension drama.
Like the original series, it is a procedural chronicling the workings of the fictional Hawaiian state police department. In the original, the unit was headed by Steve McGarrett, played by Jack Lord. In the new series, McGarrett’s son Chris will be the top cop.
While the characters, storytelling and pacing will be updated, Bernero says that they’re not trying to reinvent it and that they’ll try to “keep as much of the original show as possible”.
You may not have seen a single episode of the original in your life, but odds are you’ve heard the opening theme song.
