Iron Man 2 Set for 2010, Avengers in 2011

I think it’s safe to say that Iron Man is a hit, and to think, there were some people out there who thought a video game would prevent it from making money - crazy. Marvel is obviously eager to get going on Iron Man 2 and have just set an April 30, 2010 release date for the sequel. Presumably Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr., among others, will be back.
They’ve also set release dates for Thor, Captain America, which now has a working title of The First Avenger: Capitan America, and of course The Avengers. Thor will arrive on June 4, 2010, Captain America on May 6, 2011 and the highly anticipated Avengers will open in July 2011. Edgar Wright’s Ant Man flick is also still in development but no release date has been set.
An interesting side note to this announcement - Marvel Studios’ David Maisel said that Iron Man 2 will be used to introduce Thor. Presumably he means another crossover will take place, much like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Speaking of the big green guy, Maisel’s also said Marvel does have plans to continue that franchise. Also, Spider-Man 4 is still in development.
