Jonah Hex Needs a New Director

A few weeks back Josh Brolin announced in an interview with Collider that he wasn’t a lock for the starring role in Jonah Hex as previously thought.
But the Brolin question mark seems to be the least of worriers for the project as directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have now left the film. The two also wrote the script, but their exit as directors is being attributed to creative differences.
Neveldine and Taylor are best known for writing and directing the Jason Statham action flick Crank, as well as the upcoming sequel Crank 2: High Voltage. The duo also have Game, starring Gerard Butler, set for release September 2009.
Hex is based on the graphic novel by John Albano. It is a western, centering on an anti hero who was an officer for the Confederacy during the American Civil War. He fought at Gettysburg and is normally shown wearing a tattered Confederate States Army jacket. The title character is surly and cynical, and right side of his face is horribly scarred.
The studio was eyeing a spring start for a 2010 release.
