Over the years there have been rumors of possible sequels to Kevin Costner flicks. The Bodyguard, Dances with Wolves, Field of Dreams – all getting a resounding “no” from its star. Another rumor has now popped up, this time regarding a follow up to Bull Durham, and it seems Costner might be on board.
The New York Post’s gossip column, Page Six, is reporting that the actor recently met with writer/director Ron Shelton to discuss reprising his role of catcher Crash Davis from the 1988 baseball flick. Page Six also says Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon are expected to return as pitcher Nuke LaLoosh and baseball groupie Annie Savoy.
The original followed veteran minor-league catcher Crash Davis has he is assigned to the Class A Durham Bulls to handle the team’s star rookie, wild pitcher Nuke LaLoosh. Team groupie Annie Savoy romances both players, creating a comic triangle.
Page Six says the sequel would see LaLoosh and Savoy married and owners of a Major League team that Crash manages. Kristen Kerr (Inland Empire) is being eyed as one of Crash’s love interests
