While out promoting RocknRolla at the Toronto International Film Festival, Guy Ritchie told Coming Soon that Mark Strong has joined the director’s next flick, Sherlock Holmes.

Strong appears in RocknRolla and is said to be one of the film’s break out stars. Holmes will mark the third time the actor has worked with Ritchie, he also appeared in Revolver. Ritchie did make it clear that Strong will not be playing Watson, a role the director is still trying to cast.

Ritchie also says the film won’t be based on any specific story from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but rather a combination of a number of the Sherlock Holmes adventures

Some of Strong’s recent credits include Sunshine, Stardust and most recently Vin Diesel’s sci-fi action flick Babylon A.D. He also has a role in Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies, which opens in October.
