It’s been a while since Mel Gibson has starred in a film. To be more precise it was 2002 and the film was Signs, which was an alright flick. He’s popped up in various cameos since then and had his run-in with the law, as well as directing the awesome flick Apocalypto. But now it’s time for Gibson to return to the screen. The actor has signed on to star in Edge of Darkness.

Gibson will play a straitlaced police investigator whose activist daughter is killed. He plunges into the case and uncovers systemic corruption that led to his daughter’s death.

Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) is set to direct the film which is an adaptation of the six-hour 1985 BBC miniseries, which Campbell also helmed. Go-to screenwriter of late, William Monahan, penned the screenplay.

I’ve got to say that Gibson still knows how to pick them as this flick sounds like it could be pretty awesome, the talent is definitely there, at least. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m ready to watch Mel kick-ass on the screen again.
