Spike Lee’s latest, Miracle at St. Anna, now has a trailer, and you can check it out below. The film tells the story of four black American soldiers who are members of the US Army as part of the all-black 92nd “Buffalo Soldier” Division stationed in Tuscany, Italy during World War II. They experience the tragedy and triumph of the war as they find themselves trapped behind enemy lines and separated from their unit after one of them risks his life to save an Italian boy.
Derek Luke, Michael Ealy, Laz Alonso, Omar Benson Miller, Matteo Sciabordi, John Leguizamo, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Valentina Cervi star. The film opens on September 26, 2008.

Anyone know the music that plays in this trailer?

The book is not very good, and is full of silly historical errors. Author McBride seems to have been inspired by two distinct events: the massacre of Italians at St Anna di Stezzema in August 1944 (no Americans were involved) and an Axis attack on the 92nd Division in late December 1944. Some frontline units fought bravely, but the division as a whole pretty much collapsed. It was later reinforced by the Nisei (Japanese-Ameican) 442nd Combat Team. Where are they, Spike?
