New Dragonball Set Photos

A bunch of new set photos from Dragonball, the upcoming adaptation of the popular anime series, have popped up online over at Joblo. I’ve personally never been a fan of the series, and don’t really have any expectations for the flick, but for the many fans of Dragonball you can glance below at a few of the pictures, which give you your first real look at the flick. They’ve also posted a brief plot synopsis:
“A young boy named Goku seeks out upon his grandfather’s dying request to find the great Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls (of which he has one) in order to prevent Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use the Dragon Balls to take over the world.”

I hate to say it a DBZ fan, but this movie will probably suck hard. I hope it doesn’t, but if thats Goku this movie is already on the train to sucksville.

Looks like they are half-assing the entire production… like everything is really really cheap. Spend some time and this could’ve been good, but yeah, it looks like mortal kombat. Total bullshit. And yeah I’m a fan, so I’m especially annoyed.

They could have atleast used a little boy for goku or someone different. Wtf, goku isn’t some tall white dude with facial hair. I am a fan, and this movie doesn’t seem to grasp the concept of DBZ…..wonder how vageta will look….

I’ve been and still am a huge dbz fan, hopefully the snapshots won’t tell how this movie will turn out, although, it would have been cool if they went the route of the new batman movies and gone into a more darker and more serious way of portraying the movie, but like we’ve all said, we’ve longed for a live action movie of the series, please don’t dissapoint.

Oh god, Master Yoshi isn’t black. All the characters in the movie should be Asian’s since they are all based off Asians? Also what shitty outfits. This movie is set in the future too, a late 80’s future with flying cars and idiots wearing clothes like they are out of BTTF(Back to the Future for those who don’t know). So really if they want to make this movie, they will just have to skip the whole live action and go straight to making a cartoon really… It’s gonna be bad and I’ve been waiting since I was 8 (and still really love the cartoon) to see a live-action adoption of DBZ. That was 10 years ago and I think if they were making this 10 years ago It would look the same and I would still think it’s shitty. They should do a poke’mon and do a cartoon big-screen adoption ffs lol.

The black dude isn’t Master Roshi, that’s Mr. Popo. And he’s played by Ernie Hudson.
As fun as the racial over and undertone of the Mr. Popo character was, they had to tone it down and make it more realistic and him more of a monk rather than a genie.
Granted I think they still should’a thrown on some pointy ears, but at least this way Mr. Popo isn’t just a pretty eh character and reinvisioned in a positive light.

I really couldn’t care less if Chatwin does play Goku or not….as long as he does a GOOD job. I will go see it if I hear any good reviews from friends who watched the series. Even if I only hear a few I’ll still give it a chance…

I’m curious to see how it works out. They’ve probably taken a great deal of liscence with the setting but that’s really to be expected what with the fact that it was Anime and would look completely wrong in live action. Sure the movie might be a bit like street fighter but perhaps we should hold judgement until we see it. I don’t mind if the movie is cheesy (the cartoon was pretty cheesy in places anyway). I’ll be happy as long as the essence of the characters remains the same.
1. Master Roshi is a leturous old man
2. Goku is a bit thick headed in more ways than one.
3. Bulmer is a tad superficial
4. Lots of fights
5. Explosions
6. Kamehameha
7. I’d like to see Goku go a bit ape but we can’t have everything.

Looks like Hollywood is going to make a very bad movie.
I think this project does not have enough resources and talented people who could make a movie that is worth an anime.

Ok lads, being a fan of Dragonball Z i’m very pissed that they have done this. It does look like a ball of shite and terrible rolled into one. But since this movie is gonna be about the series “Dragonball” and not Dragonball Z, i dont mind if they butcher it cause frankly Dragonball is utter shit compared to Dragonball Z. So i still have hope for the future and since this is most definately gonna fail in the box office, they’ll hopefully learn and make it better for Dragonball Z.
P.S. Whoever thought the Mortal Kombat movie (1 not 2) was shit, you’re the biggest fag ever and aren’t a real fan.

ok for all the ppl that keep saying dbz its dragonball, and these are only some of the pics there are tons out there. If you are also a dbz fan you should know that they have said that after this movie they will have goku getting more buff, Just like in the show. he was small until he started training for freiza. He is a fucking saiyan muscles mean shit he is hundreds of tms stronger than an average man so they will buff him up wen he taks on other super beings like freiza and vegeta. In dragonbal piccollo was actually quite pathetic in strength compared to in the begining of dbz when they took on raditz they were only as strong as the competition. Before you idiots that think your real fan of db dbz and dbgt do some more looking into the movie or shut ur mouths. ppl want to relate to movies now a days and the producers are tying to make this a hit for everyone NOT just us fans. Movies cost millios to make retards so u need to make everyone understand it.
