Paris Hilton has landed a role in writer-director Todd Solondz’s new untitled dramedy. The socialite joins an ensemble cast that includes Allison Janney, Paul Reubens, Natasha Richardson, Michael Lerner and Charlotte Rampling.

The story revolves around a group of individuals struggling to find a place for themselves in an unpredictable and volatile world. The movie will take off on elements from the director’s breakout Happiness, in a project producers are describing as a part-sequel, part-variation on that film.

Happiness opened in 1998 and centered on three middle-class New Jersey sisters dealing with their problems with their families and sex lives. It starred Philip Seymour Hoffman and Lara Flynn Boyle.

Solondz previously directed Fear, Anxiety & Depression, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Storytelling and Palindromes.

The new film will be financed and produced by the Minnesota-based inside Werc Werk Works and is scheduled to arrive sometime next year.

What Others Have to Say:

  1. Interesting… I don’t know what Todd has planned for her but hopefully she will keep her trap shut and do what he says and maybe it will be her break through role. I’ve only ever seen her acting in “House of Wax” and I remember being very disappointed because of how bad she WASN”T. Sure, it was a cheesy slasher flick but it (she) could have been a LOT worse…
