Philip Seymour Hoffman Voicing Max

Philip Seymour Hoffman definitely won’t be suiting up as the Penguin in the next Batman flick, at least not in this universe, but instead it seems he’ll be lending his voice to an upcoming animated flick, Mary and Max.
The announcement comes from Clint over at Moviehole who says the flick is the first film from writer/director Adam Elliot and producer Melanie Coombs since their Oscar winning animated short Harvie Krumpet.
Mary and Max is a simple tale of pen-friendship between two very different people; Mary Dinkle, a little chubby lonely eight year old girl living in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, and Max Horovitz, a 44 year old, severely obese, Jewish man with Asperger’s Syndrome living in the chaos of New York.
The voice cast also includes Toni Collette and Eric Bana. Mary and Max opens in Australia on April 9, 2009 and then hopefully in more markets later in the year.
