Sam Raimi Directs…
I’m sorry to all the people who thought that this might be another article pertaining to The Hobbit, but this piece of news isn’t the announcement of Sam Raimi directing those upcoming fantasy flicks. Its still good news though, because Raimi is returning to his horror roots and has signed on to direct a project he co-wrote with is brother, Ivan Raimi, nearly fifteen years ago. The flick is Drag Me to Hell and is about an unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse. Raimi describes the movie as “spook-a-blast, a wild ride with all the chills and spills that Evil Dead delivered, without relying on the excessive violence of that film.” Sounds like it has some potential, I’m just glad that it looks like he’s finally moving on from the Spider-Man franchise. The flick will be produced under Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures, the same label behind The Grudge series and most recently 30 Days of Night.
Despite announcing this project there’s still a high probability of Raimi directing the two Hobbit movies. In fact it looks like the pieces are falling into place for that to actually be the case. Stay tuned for more details on Drag Me to Hell and The Hobbit.
