UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter says Bastards will start production in October and that The Weinstein’s will co-finance the film, distribute it domestically and oversee production and worldwide marketing. They’re reportedly looking to join forces with a major studio to co-finance in exchange for foreign rights.

Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Quentin Tarantino is shopping around his WWII epic, Inglorious Bastards, to four different studios – Universal, Warner Bros., Sony and Paramount. Apparently The Weinstein Company, rumored to be having money problems, won’t be financing QT’s latest.

Harvey Weinstein will, however, be producing the flick along with longtime Tarantino cohort Lawrence Bender, who was absent from the directors last flick, Death Proof. The other piece of Bastards news has to do with casting. Finke reports that Tarantino is talking to Brad Pitt to star.

The film is described as a Spaghetti Western meets World II film that’s an homage to 1967’s The Dirty Dozen and its derivatives with a story about a group of soldiers on their way to be executed who get the chance of a reprieve.
