Sylvester Stallone recently revealed at the American Film Market that he’s pursuing Forest Whitaker to star in his upcoming action flick The Expendables.

The movie, which Stallone is currently writing and will direct, was announced on Thursday and also stars Jason Statham and Jet Li.

Stallone, Statham and Li play a team of mercenaries who are sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is “expendable,” hired to do jobs that no one else can or will.

There’s no word on who Whitaker would play, but its possible Stallone has him pegged as the ruthless dictator. This would make sense seeing as how Whitaker won an Oscar for portraying real Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland.

Stallone also dropped some rather disappointing news. Apparently the flick won’t be a total blood fest like the recent Rambo as he’s aiming for a PG-13 rating.

Filming is scheduled to begin in February in Costa Rica and Louisiana.
