Starship Troopers 3 Trailer

Man, what happened to the Starship Troopers franchise? I probably should use a different word other than franchise, but back in 1997 when the original Paul Verhoeven directed Troopers came out, one could have predicted that we’d get to see more awesome flicks set in that world. Sure, we got more, but nothing on par with the first flick. Starship Troopers 2, and the upcoming third, Starship Troopers 3: Marauder have been regulated to direct-to-disc, and judging by the new trailer for the third flick it’s with good reason. The only spark of interest with this new one is that they somehow managed to dig up Casper Van Dien and have him reprise his role of Johnny Rico.

Co-starring along Van Dien are Jolene Blalock, Boris Kodjoe, Amanda Donohoe and Stelio Savante. It was written and directed by Starship Troopers 2 scribe Edward Neumeier.

I’d like to believe that in some alternate universe there exists a really cool Starship Troopers trilogy.
