It definitely looks like things are full steam ahead for Quentin Tarantino’s long awaited WWII epic Inglorious Bastards. Last week it was revealed that the film would be split in two and now the director has revealed more details in a recent interview with the BBC.

Tarantino says that he only just finished the screenplay last week and he intends to start pre-production right away. He also stated that, although the film takes place during World War II, it isn’t going to be a period piece.

“I want it to feel right now. One of the things I have to battle against is 30 years of Nazi-occupation TV movies where we’ve all seen the big streets and the vintage cars and the Swastikas, and we’ve just seen that ad nauseum.”

“This is a modern, in-your-face movie. This is not a TV movie period piece.”

Although no casting decisions have been made yet, Tarantino wants to be finished the film within the next 11 months, in time for next year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Head on over here for the BBC’s full interview, and stay tuned for more Inglorious Bastards updates as they come in.
