What is The Grabbers?

Jason Statham has had a busy 2008. So far the actor has been on the screen in The Bank Job, Death Race and will reprise his role of Frank Martin in Transporter 3 in November. He also stars in Crank 2 next April, but what does the future hold? While in England promoting Death Race the folks over at Empire talked with Statham and asked exactly that.
Statham revealed that he’s working on The Grabbers, a film written by David and Janet Peoples. He went on to say that the flick is in the vein of John Huston’s The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, a film that starred Humphrey Bogart and Walter Huston as gold diggers who become contaminated by greed.
“It’s not a remake or anything,” clarified The Stath. “But it’s a little bit like that – about relationships and how greed contaminates the relationships these three people have. The working title is The Grabbers.”
“Hopefully we’ll get that made. We’re trying to put the finance together now and hopefully do it before the end of the year,”
The actor definitely seems to be in good hands. David and Janet peoples previously wrote 12 Monkeys and David wrote Blade Runner and Unforgiven.
